So many individual pieces

Proudly presented by the Woman’s Board of the Winnetka Community House, this spectacular style and design event has become a favorite for those living in Chicagoland and beyond, attracting thousands of antique lovers, art collectors and shoppers throughout the three day Show. Its 60+ year history and prevailing reputation speak to the caliber of this highly anticipated gathering, which features more than 40 nationally-recognized dealers of antiques and modern pieces.

“I’m thrilled to be part of this year’s Antiques + Modernism Show,” said Winnetka resident, Cindy Monnig, one of the co-chairs of A+M 2018.  “I’ve had the privilege of serving on the A+M committee in the past and I’m especially excited to co-chair this incredible event with Annie Challenger, whose mother was one of the founding members of the Show all those years ago,” she adds.

In addition to presenting dozens of exceptional dealers from across the country, this year’s A+M Show also features two speaker events – one on Friday morning, November 2 and one on Saturday morning, November 3.

Accessories

Friday’s event called How to Design Your Home for Parties: Entertaining Secrets from the Pros, features a lively conversation between three entertaining gurus, Carla McDonald, founder and editor in chief of The Salonniere, interior designer and Elle Décor’s A-List honoree, Alessandra Branca, and textile designer and author Michael Devine.

The celebrated threesome will share their entertaining tips and lead a master class on designing a home for parties, including scrumptious menus and scintillating cocktails, furniture design and arrangement, lighting, invitations and place cards, table settings, florals, and party protocol; plus a host of fun stories about the parties for which the panelists are famous.

Saturday’s event, titled Modernique, features Chicago’s very own Julia Buckingham, a recognized leader in a new generation of world-class designers. Julia, author of the book Modernique, brings her chic sensibility to both residential and commercial design projects around the country. With her signature style of mixing high and low and antique and modern, Julia creates inspiring interiors that offer the elegance and ease of modern style combined with the warmth of tradition. During her presentation, Julia will share how to create a modern look while keeping treasured pieces in the mix.

Both presentations begin at 10 am. Tickets are $35 each and include three-day admission to the show. Mimosas and small bites will be served during both.

“I’m truly honored to co-chair A+M and carry on the beautiful tradition started by Barbara Wolfson, Talky Blank and my mother all those years ago,” said Annie Challenger of Winnetka. “This show was a labor of love, and that labor of love continues today,” she adds. “I know my mother would be very proud of what the Antiques + Modernism Show has become, and I am honored to be one of the co-chairs, following in her footsteps.”

Art Work

As in years past, A+M will welcome distinguished antique dealers from across the country who will be showcasing their American, European and Asian collections, while those specializing in modern pieces will display work from various design movements including Mid-Century Modern, Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco. The thorough and thoughtful selection of dealers ensures that only items of the highest quality are sold at Antiques + Modernism. Attendees will find beautiful home furnishings and accessories, artwork, clothing, jewelry, and more, all available for purchase at the Show.
