Halloween By Design presented by Tru-Skin Dermatology took place October 25th, 2018 at the historic buildings of Star Hill Ranch. The co-chairs of the event were Monica and Todd Hanzelka, and Darby and Adam Woolley.
The Haute Halloween Bash is one of the most amusing and fascinating bashes in the history of the philanthropic world of the Austin community for those who are looking to support their community and have fun. The attendants enjoyed the evening with glamour and entertainment. The venue featured the work of original designers and artists that were exhibited at the different historic buildings of the Star Hill Ranch. The venue has been the setting for a variety of documentaries and feature films and has a 31-acre tract surrounded by a wooded buffer that overlooks a scenic valley.
The guests kept themselves on the go by touring the different buildings, where they enjoyed the original art displays with a Halloween twist and trick or treat with the nonprofits. In one of the locations there even was a fabulous place to play casino games for great prizes. In addition to the haute couture décor, there was light bites and signature cocktails provided by four Austin chefs. The evening concluded with a concert by Texas music legend, Joe Ely.
The Halloween By Design was the idea of local Austenite and philanthropist Lurleen Ladd, who co-owns Tru-Skin Dermatology with her husband Dr. Dan Ladd. Halloween By Design creates a new way to celebrate Halloween and support local area nonprofits.
About the Founder LURLEEN LADD
Lurleen’s love of Halloween began as a child with annual Halloween parties thrown in her family’s garage, complete with costumes, crepe paper, and bobbing for apples. She continued this tradition with her own children. Over time, the family party became a fundraiser for The Shade Project, a non-profit founded by Lurleen and her husband, Dr. Dan Ladd. Halloween by Design draws on those many past successful events but has expanded to include amazing art and design. Broadening the focus also means bringing more non-profits into the mix to raise much-needed funds for local organizations.
The Halloween Bash was created with a meaningful mission to create a one-of-a-kind Halloween bash that highlights the best of Austin designers, chefs, artists, and venue that benefits four Austin nonprofits whose good works benefit the entire area and beyond.
