Sundays with Santa

Santa Claus is coming to the Lake! Kids of all ages are welcome to stop by Theater on the Lake on December 16 from 3 pm – 6 pm for a photo with Santa and free hot chocolate and cookies.  A great stop before or after Zoo Lights at Lincoln Park Zoo, just one block west.  Irish coffee specials in The Lakefront Restaurant for Mom and Dad.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a canned food item to support the Lakeview Food Pantry.

New Year’s Eve 5K, December 31

This year, Chicago Sport and Social Club’s New Year’s Eve 5K will start and finish at Theater on the Lake. The scenic 3.1 mile loop will show the beauty of Lincoln Park and the Lakefront. A New Year’s Eve run

New Year’s Eve on the Lake, December 31

Party-goers looking for an unforgettable New Year’s Eve experience will not want to mis New Year’s Eve on the Lake on Monday, December 31 from 8pm – 1:30 am. Guests will have a front-row seat for the Navy Pier fireworks, ina cozy lodge-like atmosphere located directly on the city’s lakefront.Surrounded by floor to ceiling windows for prime fireworks viewing, thisupscale evening is complete with an all-inclusive five-hour premium drinkpackage, appetizer stations, midnight champagne toast and countdown, and more.Chicago’s own DJ Flipside will provide live entertainment with music from allover the world.

Authors on the Lake, January 16, February 22

“Authors on the Lake”, an all-new, monthly series will begin in December at Theater on the Lake, and will feature some of the world’s most-renowned chefs, cookbook authors, and non-fiction writers. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear intimate, one-on-one conversations with their favorite chefs/authors, led by Chef Cleetus Friedman. Book lovers will also have the opportunity to participate in question and answer sessions, and purchase autographed copies by of the latest books and cookbooks.

 On January 16, Chef Paul Kahan of avec, Blackbird, ThePublican fame, will take the stage to discuss his cookbook, Cheers tothe Publican, Repast and Present: Recipes and Ramblings from an American Beer Hall.  And, On February 16, Chef Bill Kim’s will discuss his Korean BBQ: Master Your Grill in Seven Sauces cookbook, aswell as his vast experience working in some of the top French and Asian restaurants across the country.

The Authors on The Lake Series will continue monthly, with more culinary experts and non-fiction writers to be announced in the coming weeks. 

Tickets for Authors on The Lake are limited and expected to sell-out quickly. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door. Doors open at7 pm with check-in and a welcome drink for attendees. Interview and questions and answers with the author will begin at 7:30 pm. Book signing and light food with beverage pairings will begin at 8:30 pm.

Kids Eat Free at The Lakefront Restaurant

Children under the age of 10 will eat for free from the specialkid’s menu at The Lakefront Restaurant, Mondays through Thursdays, throughout the winter. Kids will enjoy everything from Fried Chicken and Ranch dressing,to mac and cheese, to “Lots of Cheese” quesadillas with salsa. Winter Menu at The Lakefront Restaurant

The Lakefront Restaurant recently debuted a new winter food and drink menu, with a number of dining specials for the cold-weather months. New food items and warming drinks from The Lakefront Restaurant’s seasonal menu are now available for lunch and dinner daily. New lunch offerings include: Guajillo Spiced Chicken Salad, Maryland Crab Cake sandwich and an old stand-by from Chef Cleetus’s City Provisions days, the Turkey Sambal, featuring Michigan Farms turkey, gruyere, grilled onion, Sambal mayo on pretzel roll.

For dinner, seasonal additions to the menu include: Albondigas (ground pork meatballs with rice and egg) in Smoked Tomato Sauce, Braised Short Ribs (slow cooked Iowa Premium short ribs, butternut squash polenta, wilted spinach, serrano sesame reduction) and Jail Island salmon with coriander cream sauce.

The Lakefront Restaurant also boasts new adult beverage offerings throughout the winter months. Additions include new wines, offering bold whites and more reds, with a French and Italian focus. New beer offerings feature malt forward ambers and stouts, including Omme gang Rare Vos and Atwater Vanilla Java Porter.

Lunch is served daily from 11 am – 5 pm; with dinner available from 5 pm – 10 pm. Brunch is offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am – 3pm.
