Cabaret Electrifies the Evenings at Feinstein’s/54 Below in Manhattan

Nostalgic for the soulful days of Prohibition and the Great Depression? On June 13, Feinstein’s/54 Below, the popular Manhattan cabaret set below iconic theater/club Studio 54, will take you on a musical tour of the interwar period of American history, led by Vocally Aligned in their cabaret act “Speakeasy.” The group includes Ashley Ryan (Musical Director), Nazzaria Workman, Pedro Coppeti, and Nick Leigh. Showtime is 9:30pm but arrive early for cocktails and dinner. 

Vocally Aligned will be performing familiar faves like “Just a Gigolo,” “Ain’t’ We Got Fun,” and “Hard Hearted Hannah” at 9:30pm, and tickets can be booked online at www.54Below.com.  For specific seating, call 646-476-3551. The supper club offers a full menu of cocktails and dining choices so you can deliciously offset the $25 food and beverage minimum. Tickets are $35. Day of performance tickets can be purchased by phone as well.

If you can’t make it to Feinstein’s/54 Below, a second performance (and return engagement) by Vocally Aligned is scheduled at the Algonquin Hotel on June 27 at 6pm. Feinstein’s/54 Below has a second cabaret evening that you won’t want to miss. Monica & Nicholas., featuring the vocals of Monica Lu and operatic tenor Nicholas Simpson, will perform classic cabaret with a program of famed opera arias and selections from the Great American Songbook on June 11 at 9:30pm. The night will feature songs such as “Ben Venga Amore,” “My Romance,” “The Way You Look Tonight,” “La Vie En Rose,” and other operatic arias and standards. 

An active soloist and performing artist, Monica will be familiar to New York City audiences from her recent performances with Martha Graham Dance Company at New York’s City Center, and Bang On A Can and Ensemble 4’33’’ at MOMA. In addition to her practice in performing art, Lu was commissioned to compose original music for the Lucille Ball documentary, “We Love Lucy” (2018, Judith Edlund). Her duet partner, Nicolas, has performed in New York City at the Little Opera Theatre in the New York premier of Carlisle Floyd’s opera, The Prince of Players. His other credits include the Santa Fe Opera and roles in Tosca and Madama Butterfly.

Monica and Nicholas will also play at the Algonquin Hotel on June 13 at 6pm in the main lobby. Free!
